Member Donations

Allow members to help contribute toward the cost of running your group by enabling group sponsorship. This can be especially useful for groups on the free plan, enabling them to access paid features while spreading the cost.

You can enable member donations on your group Settings page.

Once sponsorship has been enabled, all members of the group will get access to their own Sponsor page where they can donate either regular or one-off payments. All donations are listed and there’s a handy chart showing how much money has been raised against the cost of running the group.

All donations are 100% refundable at any time, up until the point that they are used to pay for the group.

Sponsored Groups and Billing

If sponsorship is enabled on a group that is not on a paid plan, when the donation balance reaches the required amount, an email will be sent to the group administrators, inviting them to switch to a paid plan. When switching to a paid plan, billing contact details will need to be added.

Once a sponsored group is on a paid plan, we subtract the balance of the donations from the amount due at its monthly billing period. If the donation balance can cover the monthly charge, then there’s nothing left to do. Alternatively, if the donation balance does not cover the amount due then an invoice will be sent to the group billing contact. At this point there is no obligation to remain on a paid plan or pay the invoice, if you choose you can switch back to the free plan.

Zero Commitment

If paying for your group via donations doesn’t work out, then at any time the group administrator can refund all unused donations in full with no charge.
