How to use your domain for receiving group messages: MX records

You may know you can use your domain as the email address to send group messages. However, this still means the 'from' field shows the group's @gaggle.email  address. So here's how to make the 'from' show your domain instead.

If you're already using your domain for sending and receiving emails, you'll need to create a subdomain and use that for Gaggle Mail. For example, if you're already using @mycompany.com for regular email, create a new subdomain, such as @groups.mycompany.com .

  1. Make sure your groups are linked together as an Organization, you can do this by choosing the "New Organization" option from your Home page.

  2. Once your groups are in an Organization, choose the "Manage Organization..." option from the same menu.

  3. Click the Customise tab:

  4. Scroll to Hosted Domains and click Add Hosted Domain:

  5. Enter your domain, click Add and then click View DNS Records:

  6. This shows the DNS records that need to be updated. Make the updates, click Re-check DNS Records to check that the updates are valid:

  7. Now click Settings for every group in the Organization:

  8. Scroll to Customise and click the toggle for Use custom domain:

  9. Click Edit and add the domain you'd like to use and click Save:

  10. The new mailbox may take a few hours to become available. If you still get a 'Mailbox unavailable' message, please contact us.
