Delivery reports: Overview

Every message sent via Gaggle Mail comes with a delivery report. This tracks the delivery status for every message recipient. You can check whether the email has been sent, if it's arrived, why someone's inbox may be rejecting messages, plus much more.

To view a delivery report:

  1. Go to the group's messages:

  1. Choose the email and click the three dots > Delivery Report:

  2. Gaggle Mail fetches the Delivery Report for you. This shows the delivery status for every message sent (1). Click a State (2) and Gaggle Mail tells you the reason (3):

What the statuses mean

Status Description
Queued Waiting to be sent. Should be in this state for less than 1 minute.
Blocked Recipient is blocked. Their email address has been unreachable in the past and we've had a delivery failure notification.
Hard Bounce We attempted to deliver the message but the receiving domain says it was undeliverable.
Soft Bounce The recipient email is correct but the message could not be delivered for a temporary reason. Most common causes are either the recipient mailbox is full or they have an automated out-of-office notification setup.
Complaint Recipient marked the message as spam and made a complaint. Sending to this address is now blocked and will generate a delivery failure notification.
Suppressed We have had difficulties delivering to this address in the past so we won’t send to them now.
Unknown Bounce Message was bounced but we don’t know why and have had delivery problems.
Sent Message was sent successfully be we don’t know if it has been delivered.
Out of office We received an out-of-office notification from the recipient.
Digest Recipient receives their messages in the daily digest.
Paused Recipient has asked to have delivery of their messages paused.
Delivered Message successfully sent and we received a notification to say it was successfully delivered.
Already Sent Recipient was already receiving the message (via CC for example) so we didn’t send them a copy via the group.
