How emails are addressed and sent
Here's what Gaggle Mail does in between receiving group emails and sending them to your groups.
Let's say you send an email to a group:

Gaggle Mail:
1) Receives the message
2) Looks up the group members
3) Adds group information to some of the email fields
4) Forwards the message to the group
From: | John Doe <bookclub+ john.doe_at_gmail.com@gaggle.email> |
To: | Our Book Club <bookclub@gaggle.email> |
Reply-To: | Our Book Club <bookclub@gaggle.email> or John Doe <john.doe@gmail.com> |

About the changes made
Change | Reason |
'From address' changed to @gaggle.mail | The message is sent by Gaggle Mail, and is signed with DKIM to help protect against spam and phishing |
Reply-To header added to the message | For recipients to use when selecting Reply in their email client. This is either the group address or the sender's email address, depending on your group reply settings |
Subject includes group name | To identify group messages in a Member's inbox. You can switch this off when designing your group branding. |
