Working with subgroups
Subgroups allow you to include other groups as the recipient to messages of a parent group. Once groups are linked together, bring up the Subgroups popup by clicking the Manage Subgroups option in from the Members page.
Then check the subgroups you need and uncheck the ones you don't.
We will ensure any recipients which appear in multi groups only receive messages once.
Message moderation and daily digests also work as expected with subgroups. You can add as many subgroups as you like to a group and we will take care of any cyclic subgroups (A -> B -> C -> A etc).
In the example below, Acme Corp. has five separate groups. All groups are linked together in the "Acme Corp." Organization.
The Sales department is spilt in two, Sales Team A and Sales Team B which are both subgroups of an "All Sales" group. This means people can contact either Sales team with their individual group or the entire sales department with the "All Sales" group.
The "All Sales" group and a "Directors" group are both subgroups of an "Everyone" group which covers the entire company.
The benefit of subgroups here is that when a new person joins "Sales Team A" they will start receiving messages from the "All Sales" and "Everyone" groups automatically. Equally, if someone is removed from "Sales Team A", they will automatically be removed from other groups.
